I can't exactly blame the celebs because the grew up with the idea of One China. Also, Chinese govt and netizens tend to be ruthless to anyone who doesn't support the notion of one China.
The brands tho are clearly bowing down to the money.

It's more the latter part than the first part. Chinese celebrities who haven't shown support for the government have disappeared in the past. So, whenever a Chinese celebrity shows support for even the most sinister thing, I give them a pass because it's their LIFE they're gambling with if they choose to speak out or even not say anything at all. And no, I'm really not making the disappearing part up. Some of them disappear for MONTHS.
