Kazakh pop, also known as Q-pop, is a music genre originating from Kazakhstan. It began in 2015, when the group Ninety-One debuted. Q-pop incorporates elements of western pop, kpop, Kazakhstani hip hop, EDM, RNB, and Toi-pop. The genre continues to gain popularity, both among natives of Kazakhstan and outsiders.
Generally, Q-pop singers use English stage names. Like in kpop, the singers tend to be in the young side (1990s and 2000s), and have bright, trendy styling and performances. Q-pop has popularity among the people, but faces backlash from traditionalists. Finally, Q-pop has a festival every year in Kazakhstan.
