I went to a comic book shop with my friends to work on a group project (for context I am studying making games so this is completely normal place to go…) and I had so much fun! I am also so happy to have friends I can freely be a geek around (I mean mostly Spider-Man not Conan, but this thread is about Conan). I am really glad I met them and am always happy after being with them (I have realized my favorite thing in the world is people)

Anyway, after we did what we were going to do there was a sale on manga and comic books (for buying 2) so my friend and I bought two together (she got 1st volume of haikyuu) and I got this: Detective Conan Volume 8 (called case closed in the US)

I had previously (while I was active) gotten volume 1. Unfortunately they didn't have any of the ones in between 1 and 8, so I got 8. I have already read it (digitally from my California library). I left my volume 1 at home for my brother to read (he won't I bet ...).

I am so happy that I was able to get it on sale (I am a cheapskate) and my friend offered this and I don't get the opportunity to go here much!

I also got a Spider-Man comic, that will be another thread

Currently: One Piece Volume 7 and Conan volune 35 holds came in ...

As for what I'm currently reading, the ss exposed me, I saved 1000+ Asian American books in May while I was active ... that is one of them

I am trying to take turns

One Piece and Detective Conan are Japanese not Japanese American so they wouldn't have counted

Ah they're the same but I completely messed up when I was on cards team, the original name IS Meitantei Conan

So in Japan - Meitantei Conan
almost every other country - Detective Conan
USA - Case Closed bc they were worried about getting sued by Conan O' Brien or Conan the Barbarian ...

Case Closed also refers to the English dub of Detective Conan, which was where it started

English translations of the Manga sold in countries outside of North America should say Detective Conan instead of Case Closed

The "Case Closed" dub only ran for 4 seasons and part of the fifth. What I was watching was called Case Closed because of the licensing in America but it was actually the Detective Conan Japanese with English subs (actual subs not of the dubs)

But Conan is always called Case Closed in the US instead of Detective Conan because of that licensing which makes it hard to find anything referencing it as Detective Conan

because the company that was subbing had the rights and stopped after the fifth season there is a huge gap between the last "case closed eng sub/dub" episode and where they were picked up in america by other services like crunchyroll

when I am watching now from Indonesia, it says Detective Conan

The Case Closed dub changed the Japanese names to be more Western, like "Jimmy" instead of Shinichi, "Richard Moore" instead of Kogoro Mouri, Serena Sebastian instead of Serena Suzuki, Harley Hartwell isntead of Heiji Hattori

I don't like that.

The US manga Case Closed keeps those names

The anime with subs I watched didn't change the names
