My favorite, or the restaurants that make you think you can leave a tip on your card when you go to pay. However when you view your statement you realize they didn't take out the tip. Personally I don't trust companies to even actually tip their staff. That is why I think America would do best ditching the tip system and actually paying staff a living wage. Of course allowing tips if a person wants too, but assuring employees get paid decent checks.

I worked at a place if you got tipped working for a table, that tip got spread over 15 event staff including managers even if they had nothing to do with that table.

a lot of restaurants in toronto add on a service charge now making it mandatory to tip around 20%. and it's 100% going to the owners and not the actual wait staff. our minimum wage is $14 so this is probably how these restaurants get some of that money back :/

Oh you know it. And there is absolutely no regulation anywhere to make certian people get paid what they are tipped.

Holy shit $14 an hour. Here I am, earning $3.5 an hour, no tips either.

Reminds me of Amy's Baking Company from Kitchen Nightmares.
Here, we don't tip, we just leave behind our change if it's like a couple of cents are a euro or something.
My family from Canada thinks it's weird but someone who's 18+ earns like 12 euros an hour, which is decent.

Yep. European waiters don't really live off tips since their salaries are decent from start.

I had a job at a bar and I miss it tbh. I got payed a lot more than my job at the amusement park and it was less tiresome.

Tip jobs can be awesome. They can be a bit problematic for the young because ya leave work with a bunch of cash.
So some folks with out discipline many end up short for expenses.

Personally i loved all my tipped jobs. Shoot most of my restaurant jobs fed me too, some twice a shift.

I am sure there are always bad actors out there(like this dude) but the majority of business and co workers are very honest with co workers tips.
Now workers are not so honest in declaring but...

Shoot my sister makes bank as a stylist off tips.
