I think one of the biggest lessons learned is group design to hedge against the solo stan / balkanization of the fan base.


and to be honest i am annoyed at idle / soyeon playing like they are Amber's image.

i do not remember a group when so many of each members fans really hated the other members.
The internal knives were brutal.
Look at the solo sales numbers for Luna and Amber.
it was more internal fans who turned on members than external.

I think SM could have mitigated that some by giving them a fandom name and the trapping's early.

Amber and Krystal had their toxic fans also but no one came close to jinabit who became obsessed with Sulli. Im sure you remember her. That woman HATED Krystal especially (I'm sure because she was jealous of her BFF friendship with Sulli) and would harass and bully any other Sulli fansite that appeared online. She made sure her Sulli site was the only game in town.
