Usually! All my threads involve others, and interacting with others. But today is a special day for me because it is actually the 2nd year I came out to my family.

Some people may think, “Is there a reason to write about it?”Yes! Specifically because my family actually didn’t understand other sexualities besides heterosexual. Nothing wrong with it, but I knew at a young age. I had a romantic gaze for girls and boys. But at the same time. I found out I was of the Asexual spectrum. I was attracted to the personalities, and souls. I felt I was coming out to late because I had to hide a lot of my relationships with women, and could only be open about being with men. I decided to come out, and it felt refreshing to see I had some members who still accepted me, and others said it was a phase, but

I’ve tested that theory…many times. It was not lol.

I turned 26th on the 4th of this month. So I was 24. So don’t ever feel you’re late. Sometimes we want to finally tell others, and others may want to keep it away because of others. Being an asexual has actually helped me a lot in finding comfort in myself.

Adore whoever you adore, and be whatever you desire. :sanapray:

Sorry if this was a rant. I celebrate this day because you don’t know how long I was forced to a standard. I kept it up for expectations until I was able to separate more. I’ve also been accepted more of my ethnicity, and I’m hoping one day. I can finally start to admit that to more people.
Apparently it was a really big deal to friends and also an identity. I just am not entirely in a supportive environment for multiple reasons.

Congrats, it must be a relief. I'm glad that you got at least some support and I hope all your friends and family respect you entirely from now on :pepeheart:

I hope so, too. :sanapray: I’m not very open about it, but some do still hold a respect for me. I had to wait until I was more disconnected to feel comfortable doing it. My mother started finally accepting it. That was the one that took the longest.

Congrats on your anniversary of acceptance. As someone who also took a while to come to realization about my sexuality, I relate to a lot of what you said. I'm attracted to souls as well, whether women or man, but asexual.

:pikahappy: almost said your nickname. But thank you. Glad you’ve been around technically before I ever admitted to family. :sanapray: Online friends have always been bigger supporters. Thank you for being a Kween.

Yeah. It takes awhile and I feel some people always think there’s a specific time to come out. I’ve encouraged my other friends to do so, but not feel they have a time limit. The environment is scary when we do know how they may take it. I’m glad to see another one on the spectrum. It always felt lonely when I couldn’t relate to seeing the things my friends were into. :umjicry: Like why can’t we think the heart and brain is sexy. Don’t make me stare people down at a mall man.

But brains and hearts are sexy! :pandahappy:

It took me a long time to come to terms that sex isn't an expectation in a relationship. Dated someone who thought convinced me that if I loved him I would have sex. But now I realize it isn't (and also in a much healthier relationship now). As for coming out, yes there's no time limit but it's such a relief to do it sooner than later. I've told my parents about my sexuality and they're accepting (gender is another story lol).

Glad you saw you’re worth more than sex. It took me awhile to see that, too. And yes gender is. I was always associated as more masculine because I guess dominance isn’t praised too highly in my environment. Just learned more about it in a class I’m in and surprisingly it actually connected a lot. I waited such a long time to come out. I’ve had ideas since I was a child that something felt different. :sanapray: I’m glad you told your family. It always feel easier than to hide. I understand why people do it, but I guess I just finally had to confront my sources of adrenaline.

Yeah it definitely took me a while to see that sex wasn’t an expectation. My ex expected it, wanted us to sleep together at night, and abused me sexually. It’s good you had the opportunity to learn about it. I unfortunately was not as lucky so my discovery was very self guided. I went to a very conservative school and LGBT+ topics just weren’t discussed. When you say that you felt different as a child, same here. My biggest thing was understanding there’s a difference between romantic and sexual attraction. I didn’t get why I didn’t want sex but wanted to be held and supported by a romantic partner. I know we don’t know each other well, but I’m proud you were able to discover yourself and accept yourself.

glad you accept yourself as you deserve to, and you'll always have people here who support you~
and around you irl hopefully at least some who will or already do :kittylove:
it's not a process that is easy to come to terms with, but people are no less than the standard because of who and how they choose to love

It wasn’t easy at all. I feel a lot of people actually do have an unsettling fear inside when they realize they aren’t what’s considered a societal norm when that’s usually more just an abundance. I actually felt there was something wrong with me and I think that’s because how many people expect others to just have physical attraction to others. I even went to therapy for it and was told it’s something to have pride for on learning the inside of someone before you ever feel physical connection. I agree with all your words. :pikahappy: Such a sweetheart. Love comes in many differences, but in no way does it hold a specific form. Embracing oneself was a gift and I hope others can feel it one day.:sanapray:

exactly, at first, the realizations and knowing oneself more seem to be something people try to put a space between themselves to avoid judgment and individual fears but once it's embraced after a long journey with many obstacles, pride and self-acceptance are the gifts:pandahappy::pandalove:
connection can come in so many ways other than physical and I'm glad you now know it's a part of you and there's nothing wrong with it, not conforming to the societal standards doesn't make you any less special <3
