My problem with Boys Planet (2 Viewers)

The G-group (global) trainees will not make up the majority of the top 9 however they make up a large majority of my personal ranking. MNet tries to evil edit and fuck over the global trainees and have a history of doing so. Also people need to stop voting based on visuals only

Honestly I don’t get it either I’ve seen people argue that they’ll improve over time which I do get that but, the ones who are ready to debut at the time of filming whatever competition show should be the ones who make the lineup imo.

Agreed… and there have been times where the visual doesn’t improve…

I do find it interesting that so many people were complaining about Huening Kais sister getting votes due to their relation, but then are okay with people voting based on just visuals. Whats even the difference at that point

Thats a whole other can of worms that annoys me. And tbh she never even mentioned Kai unless she was asked. Mnet pushed that narrative. Bahiyyih just wanted to be her own person and show her own talent without nepotism.

Not that i dislike the kid and she gells well with the group especially Hikaru.

mnet had to bring it up everyone knew; fans , contestants ect. The name is just too uncommon, might as well go with it . wasnt like say pd 101 where Tahee was a cousin to someone not in the news much at all..

Just want to be her own person.... I have watched the show say 10 times al the way thru.
she did noting, but coast. girl never ever tried for a hard part, leader or a challenging song.
Shoot was her best.

She knew, the other girls knew she had a built in fan base. Not that i blame her, heck its a sweet deal.
The contestants were always expecting her to get votes.
But to infer she did anything but exist/ not melt down on the show to make it into the group is crazy.

And even still, she would not get the flack she does if say she had finished 3rd instead.

of all the iffy females to make it into the produce groups I have watched (101 , 101 China, pd 48 , gp999) i understand her popularity the least.

The visuals can dance well enough typically. Its a tv group and will be dance heavy anyways so they can blend and look pretty. Music and Kpop especially is looks forward.. ya are not collecting cards/albums/ posters of non super attractive ppl in numbers. If they can dance, sing ect at a high enough level its a bonus.

At its heart the produce format is a popularity contest, great looks helps with popularity.

Sure, looks do help, I agree with that. If they're good dancers that's also good for the group. But I don't think that its really fair to say that visuals are generally particularly good dancers. Most can keep up yeah but I don't immediately think of notable dancing skills as a visuals thing. And when I mean people voting for visuals, I don't mean people voting because they're pretty AND can dance pretty well or whatever. I mean people who vote for visuals because they're pretty and that's their only benefit. Besides, all the contestants and more than pretty enough to be in a group without standing out as "ugly". And lets be real, even if they did they'd still have a boatload of fans, considering how some of the top groups are considered "ugly" by others yet are/were still some of the top groups in kpop. They'd get bashed for looks more but even visuals get bashed, just for other reasons (usually lack of talent, whether its true or not). Just my opinion about groups being made up of visuals before noteable talent in singing, dancing, or rapping.

The problem there for example is just how many ppl on this forum ult a main vocal?

If they would kill one pick and only allow voting for the number of the final team. The odds are higher ppl would build a team and not pick the person they like the best.

Sure some ppl will pick random ppl and their fave but it should flatten out.

Most shows i have watched it all goes to hell when they change to 1, 2 pick (gp 999 excepted that was a trainwreck just waiting to happen and nothing was gonna save it after the cell and force pick from group deal)

Ha, you're reminding me of when JYP told Dahyun she wasn't the best singer, dancer, or rapper, but she was getting into TWICE because she's charming AF. And we've all seen groups get criticized for being boring to watch on variety or other entertainment shows.

I think your suggested approach would help a lot. Even if the best singer isn't my favorite, I'd be more likely to vote him in if voting him in didn't mean risking a vote against my fave. And I think most people want their faves to be in groups that have all the pieces to do well.
