i was thinking about this the other day.
Posted some of this in another of mey threads but i thought a more general reach out might help.

i was watching a youtube guy talking about how music changed with file sharing and now streaming.
basically its not a shared experience anymore. Music is very Siloed.
Kpop felt this in 2012 i feel is the date. When acts stopped going on tv shows together.
2nd gen and before we got acts from several agencies on shows so ppl would know them.

i Pick 2012-13 because that does coincide with teh youtube thing and Social media more direct to fans.

Groups are bigger and smaller. Kpop does have advantages that say America music does not as to the shared experience. Ie teh music shows and year end shows.

but its still very siloed.
because groups just flat do not interact much at all.
The challenge thing has helped and hurt at least now we have actual footage of acts interacting. but it tends to also drive ppl away from songs.

i have said this before but i knew far more 2nd gen individual than now.
Izone helps me cuz with the 12 now spread out i see more ppl.

but 3rd gen on acts I know ppl i put in work to search out and learn.
for example i kinda know some Exo and NCT just because of Sm interactions.
But i still know next to nothing about bts they live in a closed loop.
i know some songs that acts i would watch on say weekly idol cover like fire dynimite ect.

Same with black pink.

Twice i have seen on shows with Red velvet members so i know them a bit more.

stray kids all i know is back door.

i do not think its too many groups although there are more, i just never see em. because the marketing ect is so targeted.
