Of course my opinion would be different if we know she doesn't want to do it but assuming she does y'all are complaining about sexual and bodily confidence. I don't want to see men grab their crotch either. Im not even against a women being able to express their sexuality if they want but If I wanted to endure seeing things like that I could watch more western pop. My problem is with that single senseless action (that added nothing of value to the MV or song) I can no longer recomend Twice if someone asked for recommendations about good kpop groups for their kids. That singular action effects the entirety of Twice and all their previous and future work. JYP of all people should know this.

I agree, she is no less talented nor does it affect her value as a person. Ill explain more indepth when I get home. It has to do with how I was brought up and how Twice is no longer "safe" because of this.

Some female German Pop artists even used the 'slut' concept in their music in an overdrawn way, as an option to play with prejudices. But I don't think that this concept works for most K-Pop girl groups. Most female K-Pop idols seem to be sensitive when it comes to harsh comments from fandomes. Calling them 'sluts' could be disastrous!

Nayeon acts as a powerful young woman in her MV. But her behavior might send a wrong signal regarding her general image. Twice's music and MVs are suitable for all ages. There are other, more adult-themed, groups like Kard, or girl groups with 'in your face' attitude like Craxy. By the way, I love Craxy, but I don't want to see them touching their private parts in their MVs like Nayeon did.

Idols should take responsibility for their especially young audience. Female idols are often role models for young girls especially in Asian countries. I'm sure that Twice's main audience are young girls, even minor girls. Of course, they listen to Nayeon's music too and watch her MVs. I don't blame Nayeon, but the company. But that doesn't mean that a women should stop doing that.

Idols get hate, no matter what. They get hate if they act cute, they get hate if they are pretty and they get hate if they are sexy.
And what signals does she send about her general image?

I'm a bit more concerened how you seem to view women.
If I want to dance sexy or dress sexy, then I will do that, no matter what people say.
And I'm happy that Nayeon feels comfortable enough to be a bit more 'provocative'

Nayeon doesn't act like a powerful woman. She is a powerful woman.
She is almost 30 years old and many, many Twice fans are also adults.
Think about her audience? Once again, Twice are NOT a Disney group. Their main audience are not children.
They are free to discover new genres and concepts.
We women are not some Barbie dolls. Female Idols are NOT cheap for trying something sexy. Nayeon is NOT going to corrupt Korea's youth.
Onces will survive this apocalypse, don't worry.

Bound by rules that a whole industry sets. And if her company says "Dance that way!", Nayeon will dance that way. Powerful women in the music industry are first and foremost independent women. Sorry, I don't see many of these in K-Pop - at least not in the K-Pop idol scene. It's not the idols' fault, it's the way the K-Pop industry still works unfortunately. The most popular example of a powerful woman in K-Pop might be Sunmi, because she really does her own thing. CL is another example.

You're right, Nayeon can do whatever she wants. But does she do her thing, or is it just another concept?

There are probably many instances where your comment would be true and one should be concerned if the idols really felt comfortable doing something (Stellars case comes to mind right away), but that is the problem with generalization, there are also instances where you will be wrong and this is one of them. Nayeon is not a Rookie, not part of struggling group and not in a shady agency. She is a 10 year veteran on her second contract and part of one of the most succesfull groups in history. It's just unreasonable that they would force her to do something that she really does not want. Also ofc we do not the details of their contracts, but I would think the artists gain a lot more freedom when signing it, as why would say they sign a bad deal at that point? It's still possible that the agency suggested this move and she agreed to it, but I think its just as likely that she felt like doing it and it was her idea.

You and @StirFriedPanda both make very big claims about Twice, but the way you talk about them is like they debuted 2 years ago and you missed everything since then. If you really think that move by Nayeon "ruined" Twice image, you missed a lot of what especially the J-Line was doing over the last year or so. Also not sure you ever listend to "Moonlight sunrise", but give it a listen and pay attention to the lyrics

Yeah I think it should be remembered that solo & subunits do not equal Twice. Very different things. Misamo is as different from Twice as you can get.

I wonder what the people surprised by this think of the lyrics to the song Candyfloss from Nayeon's last EP... Anyway, she's very much in a Hyori & Hyuna kinda lane with her solos. Not my thing, but people seem to enjoy. Personally, I really loved Jihyo's album and I would have been robbed if she had been forced into the Twice image and sound for it.

Pretty okay. I think some parts should be longer personally (the 'abcd' hook for example, the outro arrangment). I think in the context of K-pop this is good but if I wanted to listen to something like this then I got early Beyonce

It bothers me when men do it too, even Stray Kids. To me it's not a gender thing, it's an "I'd rather see something else" thing. That being said, it usually only has a minimal impact on the song overall to me, I just avoid the music video or dance practice/challenges/performances of it, and listen to it as normal. They can do it, it's just not my favorite thing. I don't think that this will corrupt Once's beyond repair or ruin their discography for me forever or anything like that. If anything, I think the notion is silly. It happened once, for a brief second, in a solo song of one of the group members. Far worse things have (and sadly will) happen. Assuming the people involved are adults and want to (as I assume is the case with Nayeon), she can do it and I'm not saying she can't or shouldn't ever do it. I see that our opinions on the subject are different though. I will respect yours, and I'm not trying to challenge it, just explain mine more clearly in case it wasn't worded the best earlier. You can have your opinion and I'll have mine, and I hope we can leave it at that.
