To be fair the standard has to be at least exo sub unit/solo wanna 1 17 level if they want to anywhere close to tier 1 ,

As it is sm has 4-5 ( i forget how many units there are 4 i think, china u 127 dream super m ) tier 2 maybe tier 3 groups using 24? kids
at the end of the day that is not good.
NCT is old they are not rookies any more they do not get a pass. The 2 years is gone.
U dream and 127 are older than like black pink.

If they are supposed to be arashi / johnny groups but korean they are not close.

This is the problem with the NCT brand people expect sm groups to be tier 1 for the gen.

This trend is nice but it is an instant gratification world and SM preaches delayed gratification.
I am sure SM is happy with the progress while wishing it were more.

Personally they stopped making music i would even listen to a while back(regular, i think it was ... so awful) that was when i took em of my check out the cb list. Which is too bad they have some crazy vocals.
all i watch from nct any more is old dance covers and the super old dance practices from pre debut. They killed sorry sorry and black suit.
Without U and chewing gum, i really like 7 sense and firetruck were interesting and worth the rewatch. Cherry bomb is out there but is what it is. I think boss is the last one i watched more than 1 live of.

Twice is kinda close playing the repack game, and IZ*ONE looks to be double plat with this cb. That is the very best any current girls have done heck once were just all a twitter over beating a 10 year old snsd number.
girls are going to have to sell over 1 million for a unique release to be close.

Rv sells as well as TTS, Ohgg heck even lion heart numbers and holiday. particularly if you look at all three albums as one album since its a repack .

ikon and winner are YG and they have digital success that sm boy groups will never have. even still they are tier 2 at best.

Shinee could get away with hovering in the 1 - 2 border land because there were 5 of em and like fx sm successfully lowered expectations.

I am saying SM bet the farm on NCT and while they may be ok with the numbers.

Ok they out sold TVXQ and Yunho... but TVXQ's makes the money in those crazy concerts in Japan and has funded sm for a decade.

They are not Flops that is over used but they have for sure under preformed expectations, and sm looks to have backed off the nct /Japan/ Vietnam, Thailand ect.

The problem i see with NCT as a concept is that unless they break out and have big success they dilute the SM brand with a bunch of 'average sales' groups for what has got to be a crazy expense.

Didn't k fans of sm groups team up to help NCT or sth,part of the reason is to get bts off the charts but that clearly didn't work out. Who knew hatred could bring people together 💀

If as a company you are not progressing you are going backwards.
They have a rep as leaders. Loosing that will hurt more than loosing money.
