I graduated high school in 2020 and the ATAR really doesn’t mean anything in the long run. (I got a 40 ATAR mind you) Here in Melbourne where I live, we actually don’t call it HSC, instead we actually call it VCE. :))

Yeah that’s true as well, I think same thing goes for english too cause I’ve heard from other ppl at school that their parents told them that they need to do English, maths and science - pretty much the English and maths part the most especially tho I’m pretty sure

Oh lord I suspect a good 40%-70% of students in my school got told what subjects to do by their parents, at least one, half of my friend group was told what to do. Mainly STEM subjects actually.

Yup! And I still do shit haha. Compare that to my French which I did the beginners course and I can understand that, at least bascially.
