no but to elaborate - us queer ppl end up believing that only relationships which are het presenting are valid, so often we build these ideals in our heads. of a cishet marriage. children. man's the breadwinner, woman's the caretaker. women have to be nice and kind and respectful (especially to mother in law!), and not speak unless spoken to. and that's okay, but what about those of us who are different? who want something different?
the thing with same-sex relationships is, gender roles are broken down. that wlw couple down the road? well both of them work, and both of them take care of the house. so do that mlm couple. what stops the wife of the het couple saying: all right, if both the ladies in house no 12 work, why can't i? and if both the gentlemen in house no 45 cook, clean, and do the dishes, why can't you? but this threatens the patriarchy.
which is why representation in media is so poor. because the moment mrs abcd sees something that is different, something that makes sense, could benefit her (whether she's having a gay awakening seeing a lesbian couple in a movie, or simply realising that there are multiple ways to have a committed, loving relationship by seeing a healthy gay couple loving, respecting, and trusting one another), she is going to have something to say. and the patriarchy doesnt like hearing it.
