Tbh I think I have some internalized racism still I rlly need to get rid of

cuz like I see a person that looks Asian (east Asian, south Asian, south East Asian, whatever, for all of them) and esp if they’re like really an adult like 30s or older for some reason I expect them to have an accent? But then they have an American one? Literally why, I don’t have an accent my brother doesn’t, I grew up with lots of other Asians and I never think someone who appears to be white, black, or Hispanic will have an accent for example when sometimes it turns out they do when they open their mouth

though where I grew up most of the Asian kids were 2nd or 3rd gen immigrants and their parents or grandparents did have accents tho the big surge of Asians started in the 19th and 20th centuries

the lack of seeing Asians on tv was getting to me but I rlly need to manage to stop this

is that considered internalized racism? i would say that's more of a schema or a stereotype.. i thought it becomes racism when you use it against the person and view them negatively because of it? I'm just asking because I feel the same way; growing up most adults were immigrants with accents so I do make that assumption and occasionally become surprised, I don't really show it though.
