I will always like Asian pop music I think.I've been feeling so disillusioned with k-pop lately. Like, I've always known it's basically an idol factory with shady backroom goings-on and dumb rules and a culture that focuses so much on looks and towing a creative and moral line... I dunno. It's hard to ignore. The culture of collectivism found in Asian countries means that you can't really be your own star most of the time, or even wish to aspire to be. You're conditioned, groomed even, to settle for less and find satisfaction in just that. And you always have to be a team-player. But not even for your own team, like a band, your friends you chose to be with, but some company's team they chose for you.
It's going to sound racist as all hell, but I honestly can't tell k-pop idols apart half the time. It's not just the way they're all done up the exact same, but just... everything. It's disturbing.
It's a situation where I have to remind myself there's a difference between being a celebrity and a musician. And that's okay. And it's perfectly valid to like either. Passion is a good thing. It's just starting to wane for me as far as k-pop is concerned... Actually for a while now.
It's true you can't really tell which group is which anymore.
I could say I am over metal myself, since I listen to so much of it.
but the fact music is always the same no matter what genre, makes me want to listen to it more, if that makes sense?
like I'd be in a dark place if it wasn't for music and friends cheering me on all the time.
looks I've always had an issue with in music.
it's so shallow, yet at the same time it sells so idk.
wish it was different somehow.
