News Produce PDs blame I.O.I and Wanna One for manipulating rankings (1 Viewer)

On December 7, various media outlets reported details from the prosecution’s written indictment of Mnet producing director (PD) Ahn Joon Young and chief producer (CP) Kim Yong Bum.

According to the indictment, Ahn and Kim said that Wanna One and I.O.I’s success made them feel pressured about the subsequent success of IZ*ONE and X1. Unlike the first two seasons of the “Produce” series, which the producers have only admitted to partially manipulating, it is alleged that the final rankings of “Produce 48” and “Produce X 101” were entirely manipulated by the producers.

The investigation into Ahn’s case also revealed that he was recognized as a valuable employee by CJ ENM due to the financial success of the first two “Produce” seasons and that he received special incentives as a result.

Also according to the indictment, Ahn conspired to choose the final lineup in “Produce 48” regardless of votes when he saw that trainees whom he felt didn’t fit the concept made it in to the top ranks. In the case of “Produce X 101,” Ahn mentioned specifically X1’s long contract (five years) and their status as a boy group (inviting comparisons to Wanna One) as reasons for the manipulation of their rankings.

However, the media outlets who reported on the written indictment noted that Ahn’s testimony may not align with suspicions that he received special treatment from agencies. According to the prosecution, Ahn received this treatment 47 times from five entertainment agency representatives between January 2018 to July 2019. “Produce 48” aired from June to August 2018 and “Produce X 101” aired from May to July 2019. It has not been confirmed whether this special treatment influenced the ranking manipulation.

On December 3, eight people related to the case were indicted for suspicions such as obstruction of business, fraud, breach of trust through bribery, and violations of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act. Ahn and Kim were indicted with detention; the others were indicted without detention.

Ahn and Kim’s first official preparatory hearing will take place on December 20.

As harsh as it sound the final songs especially we together proved him right.
Look at the pace IZ*ONE were running at.

The top 4 girls aka vocal 1,2,3, should have had the bulk of the lines and the bottom 5 almost none(see I am on your side).
The music producers took much of the top J lines lines and gave it to other girls. The high ranking j line were not ready for prime time Korean promotions.

Even with Yujin and Wonyoung(who was really Somi's age at the time of IOI(2001 in 2015)), IZ*ONE's average age is older that IOI by a year and that is with only 1 95 and a 98.

As of Yet the dates Do not match up super well with the story.
Ill try to make some points to see how it could have.

If they picked the lineup on Aug 2 and it ended up ballpark the ep 8 line up (filmed Aug 3) I think its a pretty fair guess they fixed all 3 rounds.
Because that Aug 3 line up should not have caused them much stress at all.
Except they are missing Chaeyeon, Yena both dropped well out actually behind Chaewon in the rankings.

Kaeun is really the only kid who fits the does not fit narrative ...well maybe Chowon but she never tried anything cute so hard to tell.

the ep 11 line up now that would have given them a heart attack. If they did not make this for drama reasons.
Very very hard to think Mnet wants this group to see the light of day.

this group is almost 21 on average (a full 2 years older than the ep 8 line up that stressed em out supposedly) with a 2.5 year contract. 1 Korean vocal the Korean visual is so bad she will never be in the center.

He is taking the bullet but, guaranteed he is telling the truth He would have paid a price in the company if the group was not IOI Like.

If they were Stressed on Aug 2 then ill bet the real Aug 3 ranking was closer to the Aug 24 ranking

This is Chaeyeon, Yena, Chaewon for Koeun, Chowon, Yunjin(who was already getting killed online over ITNW.)
From a group making dynamic these are solid choices.

If they did all this on aug 2 then the bribery stuff is mostly moot (Chaewon killed ITNW) this looks like they did it to save Chaeyeon and Yena both of who's companies are not even mentioned.

Its just not what the show promised :)

I think they pretty much did go with the most popular, but that fit the overall picture they had in mind.

Watch the wanna one guy being a vocal they pulled in to balance all the fan girls obsession over the rappers. As it was i remember folks were going nuts because the rapper dude was not in the center all the time.

this is not atypical but.
Job pressure drives folks to do crazy stupid things.
Artists take drugs or otherwise self medicate.
lets say he was an average pd before now he is a rock star with the company all looking on him.
Demanding now that his show keeps up the run.
Would you trust your future to hormonal teens voting? Ill be the first 2 seasons he did not have many worries. Whatever happened would be cool.

Now the company is demanding instant monsters from every season, because it created a brand new Sexy revenue stream.

He not only has to get some sort of ratings and audience participation goals, but the group MUST be HUGE.
That is too many jobs. With different goals. They set him up to fail.

SM does not demand that of its teams or employees.

YG manufacturer it and usually pisses off his fans in the long run, but it works.

He did not say it but Fromis _9/idol school not being monsters was probably brought up all the time.
