Why are there songs with over 100 million streams on a site say Melon and yet gaon has not certified them.

that is really confusing.


It puts doubt into the entire certification process.

is it like so much else full of $%#^

Honestly no idea, Gaons certifications tend to be odd at times but they keep the process to themselves which makes it tougher to pull them up on it

i was hoping there was one charting thing we could trust but it seems not.

No numbers coming out of Korea are consistent as criteria. Its frustrating.

i could understand if it was an older song in kinda that donut hole of chart time. although i still think its nuts they way they are handling those.

Melon does not filter out the streams. Some songs have high streams on Melon but aren't certified due to this. Gaon filters out the streams and combines the streams from other music platforms too. A song will reach 100M streams on gaon when it surpasses 700M+ digital points.

U know looping and all that. I think there is even a limit to how many times gaon counts streams from one account in one day or something.

so melon counts every stream as a unique stream, interesting with how hard core they are on UL.
