it’s frustrating seeing intl fans blame domestic fans for being oversensitive over issues that they have no understanding of and is oddly demeaning of their history by saying that their concerns are less valid?? it’s hypocritical entering intl fandom spaces then expecting everything to be catered towards your world views without doing research and trying to better understand their culture or fandom culture in the very least
yes, the zzh shrine issue was likely dug up but antis, but saying cnetz are being overly sensitive for being upset that he visited yasukuni shrine and had dinner with a nanjing massacre denier is??? insensitive at best tbh

I don’t mean this to defend idols, but seeing the same group of people say “Google exists they should know better” when discussing when idols have screwed up with racism, ca etc then turn back and say “oh well not everyone is a history major” when the controversy is about a more ea issue is
ofc educating idols is important but you either be aware of everything or not be selective about what issues are worth educating about

the shrine in this case has 14 class a war criminals buried and is often tied with the japanese far right and nanjing massacre deniers, that camp; he would’ve been fine had it been any other shrine
usually I’d say it’s going way too far but his case is hard to vouch for coming into this as a fan of his because he’s known for being well read

domestic fans do some really insensitive stuff, intl fans also do some really insensitive stuff
I’d rather that not happen in any fandom space, but the sense of superiority when everyone is in fact as bad as the people they supposedly hate is ironic

It goes back and forth although I will say that sometimes International fans can just be straight up knowingly racist which is something that goes beyond just being insensitive
