I started enjoying the song when I stopped watching the MV, put headphones on and just focused on the music. There is so much going on in the upper registers. It wasn't until the 3rd or 4th listen that I noticed the bass was doing very little.

I first heard Birthday on a small boombox, and all I could hear was the talk-singing. I was not impressed.

But after hearing it with good headphones, and discovering how the vocals fit in with the instrumentals, it's a whole different song.
