i know this song, i never really liked it though - i simply think it's boring i wasn't around in the early 1970s when it came out so obviously i can't speak on any controversies behind it but i feel like the main reason was how the lyrics aren't genuine at all, by that i mean the words "imagine no possesions" being sung by a man who was actually very wealthy.

I am torn over this song always have been .

I like the intended message of hope and love.
But the actual message of living for today makes me nuts, as its one of those catch phrases that sounds cool but is horrific in practice.

ie if you never take thought about tomorrow you are a sheep and easily controlled by those who can distract you in the moment is just one drawback.

let alone life just does not work like that ever action has consequences
