Say something Mean
and she'll eat you.
I sat in the diner
I asked for my order minutes ago
yes yes waffles
When I asked for them, the waitress said in a graveling voice it would be a moment and refilled my drink
I remember watching it pour out
The ice sliding gracefully down the watery path
The splish and splooshing of the glass being
Filled
I thanked her quietely and she nodded curtly exiting
Leaving me alone again
I wrestled with my many thoughts for a moment
Closed my eyes and felt the slight breeze from the ceiling fans above
Reopening, I was welcomed back
The warm yellow lights bathed me and my surroundings
It’s just me here in the corner.
Grabbing my glass, I took a sip and continued my wait at a quiet pace.
