Howdy gang it's time for the Feedback Response: Awards Edition 🤠

FIRST OF ALL a big thank you for the positive messages we received, we are glad you guys are satisfied with our work so far and we hope to keep it up <3 Our general feedback can mostly be sorted into the rules or revamp catagories so they've been tied in to those catagories respectively and some of the responses have been shortened to the main point that was made, please be understanding if one of your responses was shortened :)

Feedback for Rules:

“Please regulate the badges more so they follow the rules.”

The response for this one will come hand in hand with the users who were generally not satisfied with current badges. Recently it has been a little difficult keeping badges up to standard because the website we previously used to create high quality badges has fallen a little behind and due to not having an alternative we have been a little too forgiving recently. Since we have recently started trialing a new website which should provide better quality overall it means we can go back to being a bit more strict with what we let through and it will take time since we’ll be doing it just in our own time but we can also go back and re-review badges and update some of them so that they’re up to standard even if they’ve only recently been uploaded/revamped.

“Users with custom made badges may could get a chance to change their custom badge once or twice a year, if it's technically possible.”

Currently there isn’t any explicit rule against changing custom badges and we have done so on request occasionally when users asked as long as it’s outside of busy periods like the start of awards season, since no one has really been unreasonable with it (only asking after having the original for a long time) we haven’t really needed to put any limits on it yet but that may also be because a lot of users don’t realise it’s something we do allow on occasion. Since we recently started a new revamp season I would give it a month or two until things have calmed down a little and you can message a member or even post in our Ask Awards Team thread to see who’s most available and we can do the request for you. I don’t think this is something we will be adding to our rules in the near future because we don’t want to advertise it really, we’d prefer users to think carefully about what badge they want to get and only request if they really want it changed rather than not think too hard about it and then get it changed just because they know they can. Limiting to once or twice a year is a good shout though and we will likely implement something like this if we do get overwhelmed with custom badge requests but currently users are already being sensible so we shall see what the future holds!

“Selfies should NOT be allowed. It's unprofessional. I also absolutely HATE the fact that the group badges have to be colorful. Of course some groups have more colorful logos than others, but groups like EXO and Stray Kids have gorgeous black logos that would make high quality badges.”

In general we don't really see enough selfie badges especially winning votes that we've had to worry about quality which is of course our main focus, so we've always allowed them as long as they came from official sources. We've put some thought into what you said though and although we think you can still make quality badges with them, we also agree that they can often look more unprofessional than badges created from regular photoshoots. We've decided that from the date this thread goes out we are disallowing selfie badges specifically for groups that have been active for 2 years or more. In a special case where the OP thinks there still isn't enough material from photoshoots (say the group hasn't been very active since debut) or the idol/s being revamped haven't been active as a group in a while but they still want recent photos, they can contact any awards member and exceptions can possibly be made. For the second part, it's always been a main goal for Awards team to make sure badges are as pretty and colourful as possible as we want users to have fun and be able to create different colour schemes and aesthetics with them and we felt that too much black and white would hinder that. That being said, we do recognize that a lot of users still like the sleek black aesthetic for group badges and we will try to be more forgiving with allowing black background group badges, we will only strictly prohibit pure black or white backgrounds for member badges and pure white for group badges.

“Shouldn't have to ask permission to make badges.”

We understand it may seem like a pretty unimportant and unnecessary rule at first glance but it is very important for us awards members to know who’s doing each OP and when, it means we can make sure they’ve read and understood the rules and that the group hasn’t already been claimed by someone else, for new groups we can make sure there’s enough photoshoots to be able to have a good variety to vote for to ensure users can pick the best badge! There’s also the complications of idols who have been in multiple groups or gone solo so we can make sure if they’ve already been revamped recently that they are left out etc. There’s a lot of possible complications that could arise from users just making badge threads by themselves without our permission or knowledge. We will continue to ask that you please ask us permission first to ensure that everything comes out as fairly and efficiently as possible. It will help us and help all of those interested in badges so we won’t be changing this rule.

Feedback for revamps:

“Can they please happen more often”

“The last revamp season has been ridiculously long, more than a year long!!”

“It's time long overdue for the revamp season to end.”

We understand that last revamp season did go on seemingly forever until we decided to start a new one, and a few things we said would happen after last revamp ended just didn't happen. The goal was that eventually all groups from the list would be revamped then we could open the gates for other things but I don't think users had the time or excitement for revamps anymore after so long that some groups never got revamped in the end. Instead for this season we are actually introducing a 6 month limit! It's not that after the 6 month period is up that anything not done can't be revamped, but rather, once the 6 month period is up the gates will be opened again and users will be able to revamp anything that either was or wasn't on the list as long as it hasn't been revamped in 12 months or more. We are also considering a petition system whereby if a group not on the list has enough interest we might allow it to receive a revamp but this is still in talks and we might not implement it right away, it also depends on how interest for this season's revamps develops.

“It would be great if there would be more badges with recent/latest promo pictures.”

While us awards members do echo the sentiment, we also don’t want to put too many rules/restrictions on badges outside of just making them look professional. It is also something that may differ on the group and/or the fandom (maybe the group hasn’t been too active so there isn’t as many recent shoots to choose from or the fandom just prefers photos from earlier in the career). From the date this thread is uploaded we are going to trial a new currently optional week-long poll that OPs can do before they start suggestions period where they can have users vote on whether they'd rather restrict suggestions to the last 2 years of the groups activity or if they'd rather leave options open to their whole career (obviously if the group is less than 2 years old this rule is obsolete). If users seem to like the poll and being able to choose we might then consider making it mandatory for next revamps for groups that have been active in the last 5 years from when the badge thread is started.


We would also like to announce some rule revamps, some of which were the result of this feedback and others are the result of old problems we've finally decided on fixes for. There are some rules that have been modified, some have simply been reworded to make clearer and others are brand new. I will highlight as many new changes as I can actually remember but please make sure to re-read ALL the rules in full to make sure you're all familiar with them again! All of our rules are spread between Rules, FAQ, & Ask the Awards Team and the Badge Tutorial threads~

✧ Pure black or pure white backgrounds are not allowed for member badges, pure white is not allowed for group badges. To clarify this one has always been a rule and enforced by awards for a long time but the original wording could have been interpreted in a few ways so we reworded it to make it as clear as possible!​

✧ Badge threads outside of revamps (new groups being added) require users to verify their votes by confirming in the thread that they have voted​

✧ Pressuring and/or manipulating users, whether they’re your friend or not, to vote for specific badges, or OP a thread for you is strictly against the rules. Generally, favors amongst friends is tolerated as long as the user doing the favor is also happy with doing the thread or also prefers the badge in question, but if you feel like a user is trying to manipulate you to OP a thread you don’t really want to do, or is trying to make you vote for a badge you don’t really like especially if it means missing out on voting for the badge you DO prefer, please let an awards member know as we take manipulation of users very seriously and we don’t want anyone to feel forced to do a thread or vote for something if they really don’t want to. ​

Nah, I was just chkg for confirmation on the group badge n I came across it.(it just struck me cos I dint rmbr coming across it b4, I literally thot of it for a sec n just left it at tat). It was actually a relief to read it in ur OP n go: hey for once it's not myfaulty memory Yay, so I had to mention it (in case in future icome across my post again, I can point to it n say: my memory dint give up the ghost at this pointyet-at leastnot totally, since at least I rmbr this bit wasnt inthe rules b4 now(today/last time I read it/b4 2021 revamp event). A win for my brain not being totally gone yet!!LOL

This question was actually me, thank you for your answer. :) I had no idea that we can change our custom badge, that's why I asked. I don't want to abuse the power of changing, I was just curious if we can do it. Keep up with the good job! :)

I'll be getting ready to request to make badges for a few groups. I've only done so once and it was fairly long ago.
