So, the concept of Romantic orientation goes along the lines of the premise that one can be romantically attracted to someone regardless of their sexual orientation. For instance, a lesbian could be heteroromantic [according to this premise], which would indicate that she is physically attracted to women, but only emotionally attracted to men.

What are your thoughts on the concept of Romantic Attraction/orientation? Do you think its real? Your thoughts?

My romantic attraction is different than that of my sexual attraction. I’m asexual. So by assuming sexuality = romantic attraction, that would mean I could never fall in love with anyone. Which is not the case. I’m romantically bi, with a heavy preference towards women

I think it's a completely valid way of looking at romance and relationships. There are asexual people that are still wanting to be in a relationship with others and so it's a spectrum there as well of being homoromantic, heteroromantic, panromantic etc. There are also people like you said that are romantically attracted to some people but sexually attracted to others

I mean... I'm aroace, so I've spent a lot of time thinking about these things.

You can be attracted to somebody who you are not in love with
And
You can be in love with somebody who you aren't that attracted to

That is true for everyone regardless of their orientation. That already proves that these 2 things are separate. However there probably IS some connection between the two for most people. You hear people say how love makes the partner more attractive to them etc.

I do think it’s real cuz I am probably an asexual/homoromantic. Not sure yet tho, might just be homosexual
