Should NCT's Taeyong leave the group (1 Viewer)

Korean NCTzens are demanding Taeyong leave the group, because the constant bad rumours about him are bringing down the group
From the scamming to the bullying

Honestly by this point.... I think they need to either sue and prove once and for all Taeyong isn't guilty
Have Taeyong do a big and proper apology
OR
Have him leave the group

Tbh the apology route seems like the.... iffiest route for me. People will still continue to see him as a bully etc.

I don't know how to feel about this situation. I imagine there must be some truth to what is being said, bcs otherwise SM would be suing by now.
Then again I feel like Taeyong has changed since his young days, even if he was a bully, bcs.... Why TF would SM make him leader otherwise? SM as far as I know has always picked leaders well....

This situation is honestly fucked and made only more difficult by the fact that it is all so unclear. There is no concrete PROOF of Taeyong being a bully, we only have what his alleged victims have said.

Tbh I also think that he most likely did participate in some type of bullying, but the extent he was involved is most likely exaggerated.

I just don't know how to feel....

As a 2nd gen fan who stans a group who haves members that have left *cough cough I’m looking at you kangin*
I think it’s best if he left the group.
Especially if this isn’t the first time he’s been exposed

The thing with Taeyong.... is that all the talks about his bad behaviour are from times when he was in school and none of those people accusing him of bullying have much or any proof of that.

And like....

A) Is it right to kick somebody out of the group for something there is no proof of
B) Even if he was a bully, would it be right to kick him out for mistakes that he made years ago and has since grown out of

On the other hand, we have no actual proof of him having actually changed either or what he is like irl.

The situation with Kangin was different in the way that the mistakes made were made while he was already an idol.

B) there is a similar case with hyolyn, although she was exposed after sistar was disbanded, she was still a popular soloist but because of her bullying scandal she is nothing anymore.

School bully’s in korea and japan are really bad.
Although I myself Didn’t go to school in korea, my cousin and her friend were bullied for being “fat” to the point where the friend suicided. My cousin couldn’t get the mental help she needed, and still suffers from it today.
it may be a culture thing, and bullies are not okay anywhere, but in korea it is extreme to the point where atleast, I and korean society, wouldn’t even forgive

I agree with you, but I am also strongly in favour of Innocent until proven guilty.
I feel... uncomfortable with smbdy getting punished based only on the words of smbdy else.

There shouldn't be a punishment unless there is concrete proof.

I know this is a very... idealistic view of the world, but I'd rather some guilty go unpunished, than any innocent BE punished.

Tbh with Seungri I do think while he did do some wrong things.... he was also used as a scapegoat.
The media painted him blacker than black, implied a lot of things and pushed some things that he didn't do onto him as well.

I think that he was a bully, sm would have sued if there wasn't some truth to the allegations. I mean cmon taeyong is their nct center, they would defend him to no end if they could but... it seems like him being a bully isn't something they can just defend because like i said, there's probably some truth to the allegations.

and in terms of leaving, sm would never let him because like i said, he's their biggest "It boy" in terms of nct. but what @OnCloudJess said was true, if this had been any other group, hell if it had been any other smaller nct member, they would have either already released a big apology or left the group. idk maybe he shouldn't leave the group... maybe sm should just not put the focus on him so much. I think it probably hurts the victims to know that their bully is the center of a big kpop group who gets the most attention out of everyone.

idk maybe if he actually releases a good apology that isn't just sm speaking for him "he's reflecting on his actions" type of bullshit and actually shows that he's learned from his mistakes/truly regrets what he did in the past, then he wouldn't have to leave the group. idk it's just tricky because a lot of bullys really regret what they do after they graduate but at the same time why should they get to prosper with no consequences? just because you've learned better doesn't mean that their victims aren't still traumatized.

TBH, I've already kind of excepted the fact that NCT are never gonna hit it as big as other SM groups and I feel like Taeyong leaving would just damage the group even more. SM should never have put such a heavy emphasis on a single member anyway, especially when they were wanting NCT to be a more rotational group.

I remember when Siyeon from Dreamcatcher had some bullying rumours and HappyFace just came out with a statement saying that she did go to the same School as them but Siyeon didn't know them and that was the end of that.

I don't think that would help at this point, he's too central to the group. Enough people are too strong of Taeyong fans that the fandom would take a big hit tbh.

As for deserving it I don't think he does either and this is coming from someone who struggles with mental health problems resulting from being bullied. Whether or not he was, he really seems to have changed tbh and now I've been surprised by some of the stuff he says and how he seems to really think about life and how to help others with it and I consider that more important than what he might have done when he was younger, especially since he didn't seem to be an instigator in that situation anyways. Obviously it doesn't matter and still isn't okay if he did do that when he was younger but it also doesn't cancel out everything he's done since then.

They decided he was worth the risk when they let him debut despite all the negative rumors. If he actually leaves I'll be genuinely surprised.

I know people want to follow this logic but this is the company that let two idols get bullied and harassed for years and have done nothing after they passed away to protect their idols. For months now EXO-Ls have been sending Jongdae death threats, leaked his wife's info, and leaked photos of their daughter. This is also the company that had idols get poisoned by saesangs, stalked, and their places of living broken into and they did nothing.

SM is not going to make a statement or take action on rumors/accusations if they won't even take action on physical and mental harm done to their idols. If it's not going to make them money then SM won't do it.

I agree he might have been a bully in school, although to what extent is debatable. That doesn't excuse what he did.

However, continuing to punish someone their whole life, not letting them have a career, for mistakes you made when you were very young doesn't sit right with me. Have him apologize, make him ask his fans to not harass the victims, but a lot of details also seem sketchy and embellished. People make mistakes but also change and grow from it, let's give him that chance especially since by all accounts he's changed now.

Also, this talk of him "holding back" the group seems nonsense lol. If anything it's their confusing rotational system and non gp friendly sound that has kept fans away, and didn't they just become million sellers now? Let some NCTzens say what they will, I think he's still their most popular member and him leaving would only be a big hit to their popularity.
