Let's change Lex Luthor into a black woman who is now in a sexual relationship with a Hispanic Lois Lane.

Speaking of video games. No one can relate to being a blue hedgehog. Sonic should be updated to a gay indian woman. That would be awesome.

George Lucas needs to update the original Star Wars trilogy to where Han and Luke are in love with each other. Leia's is now gay. And has a thing for Yoda.

There is some romance. But if you alter it it any way then FF7 becomes a completely different game. That would make it NOT the game that people grew up with and loved.

i just realized there was a link to an article in the post. apparently i can't read, sorry !!

so the issue is with altering existing characters and story lines, then. that makes sense. lgbtq+ characters and romances can be included in other installments in the series, but altering existing story elements is not cool to me either. i see your point, but the way you worded the post could potentially be hurtful to some people.

There are some gay relationships, but I myself don't need a gay relationship or gay characters in the media to feel included. I should probably say at this point that I am a gay man ... But back to the point; but if they add a gay relationship, what is it going to look like? Is it going to be more of an afterthought? Again this is a remake and if the would include such a relationship perhaps in a non-remake would be better.

I know what you're talking about. In Mass Effect: Andromeda [which a lot of people didn't like] there were romance options for gay and lesbian characters. Same with Dragon Age Inquisition.. I think it would just be easier to be able to romance whoever for the games which let you ascribe your character a gender... My Time At Portia did something like this.

i'm a pansexual woman, and though the language here wasn't the best, i agree that i don't think that necessarily makes someone anti-lgbtq+. throughout the forum i talk about my love for women and @Mr_Boogie is always really kind to me. i think that this was a case of untactful phrasing. just my two cents, i could be right or wrong. i mean no disrespect to anyone here at all (so please don't hate me lol) and i completely understand how this could elicit a negative reaction.

the reason why the lgbt community want representation is because we don't get any (and if we do it's in the form of a side character who gets pushed aside or killed off quickly, most of the time heavily built off of stereotypes) don't say we're in 'everything' bc it's not true.. we're BARELY represented in media at all

This is kinda my POV too and I agree, the phrasing could have been better but I don't think the OP attacked any LGBTQ people or made this thread to get a reaction out of them. It was more aimed at the writer of that article and I thought the topic could generate some good discussion without getting disrespectful.
This is why I initially left the thread open.
