Girl groups crushing it this year, I just wanna highlight some songs that might have flew under a lot of people’s radars that were amidst the amazing lineup of popular tracks. Obviously, these are songs that I personally think are worth mentioning (so far).
Purple Kiss - Sweet Juice
This is a killer song. At first, it was not vibing with me due to it being surprisingly more chill considering its a title track. But that melody boy oh boy, it stuck with me a lot… that with Purki’s vocals, violins in the back, subtle horror themes in the MV, this entire era was nailed so well. My fave Purple Kiss title track.
Queenz Eye - UN-NORMAL
These girls aren’t being talked about, fair enough. But take a listen to this hip hop banger done right. With a strong performance to boot, good vibes, good rapping (surprising), it all meshes so well and done so right. It just hits hard but not too hard you know?
Rocket Punch - Boom
Rocket Punch may not be for everyone. They have that kpop girl group sound, high pitched, cute, bright tone. But they excel in these things and they always do it right with REAL choruses as in a chorus thats not just repeating the title track like 10 times (looking at you lsfm Unforgiven). Rocket Punch doesn’t miss so check them out or you WILL be punched.
NMIXX - Party O’Clock
Not sure how we got from O.O to this song, but I’m loving this transition. Lets just drop this whole MIXX pop stuff and give me them sweet, sweet angelic voices. Give them a typical kpop structure and I assure you, NMIXX will crush a lot of the competition as evident with this song right here. Catchy, groovy, comfortable to listen to… good job NMIXX and whoever produced this. Jingling all the way.
Jo Yuri - Bitter Taste
What can I say about my 11th wife Jo Yuri? She hasn’t disappointed me not once and although I did like the title track Taxi, this song is just…. Wow. Love, love, love her voice on this. So good, very sweet, catchy, I have it on repeat. Only drawback is that its short, no matter though, its perfect. Yuri’s voice hits my ears the same way my head hits my pillow when I’m exhausted.
Billlie - BYOB
Another group that may not be for everyone, they love experimenting but their latest single is a blast from the past, packed with nostalgia you never even knew you had. Its so… I dont know, almost melancholic, hints of sadness and happiness, like rediscovering a long lost friend you’ve parted ways with. Its really good, give it a shot, you’ll be addicted.
