Correct me if i am wrong but 17 is still doing 17 music thus why would SM not continue to do SM music?
That will happen either way.I can definitely see people leaving SM if Hybes purchase goes through as that's what happened with Source Music when they announced Gfriend was leaving since only Gfriend and top people in Source Music knew about it and when other employees found out some of them left Source Music all together.
I think you calling them scare talking points is understating that some of them are real possibilities like I'll break it downIts a nice video he hits the scare talking points hard.
ofc no mention of the rules they broke, or that they deal they put together will liked get scrapped.
- its a hostile M & A
- Hybe will be a monopoly
- Hype is and evil money grubbing monster
- LSM is Evil and this current board is teh real SM
- Hybe is breaking rules
as others have said this is less than half of the listed ee's at sm and the forum used leads me to think its mostly younger newer ones.
i still find it unbelievable that they can pull off the 3.0 plan at all let alone right now.
They have never shown teh ability to get their act together consistently.
There are legit worries.
I as a fan of SM groups and acts is worried but both paths worry me.
i find it awfully strange that the entire board is so dead set on increasing the outstanding shares by over 10% thus making each share worth less. in an effort to get cash from Kakko.
other that that its the standard party line " We are the pure and holy defenders of the common folk, those other ppl are are Evil and only look out for themselves."
Also i have never liked hybe so i fined it awfully ironic that i keep falling on this side.
Reveluvs should go read the financial filings - a concert is listed in the 4th quarter earnings report.lol teh memes about this video on twitter..
RV stans haveing none of it.
no Rv concert listed, pretty much tye are like hell how is hybe gonna be worse. Course i point to gfriend but...
LSM and his companies had zero to do with all the massive day to day/ tactics/ concert fails in SM over the past say 5 years.
and now they want us to believe that they are all pure and holy.
They will really have to work to get teh gg or exo fans to believe that.
big deal there was one scheduled last year for march.. 2 girls got covid and they never rescheduled yet nct got rescheduled like weeks later.Reveluvs should go read the financial filings - a concert is listed in the 4th quarter earnings report.

True there is no win here for the fans.I think you calling them scare talking points is understating that some of them are real possibilities like I'll break it down
1. Hybe will be a monopoly
What part of this is not true? Everyone knows how much power SM has and Hybe hasn't exactly proven themselves to be trustworthy with power either but is Kakao taking over the best outcome either? Not particularly as SM just functioning as is would be better in that regard since they seem to stick to themselves but that's not on the table and whichever one owns SM will pretty much have the power to do whatever they want.
2. Hybe is an evil money grubbing monster
Of course they are, you don't become that big by being all about the art and Hybe has proven they are more than willing to do anything to make money with no regards for anyone else like see V Live and just letting videos be deleted if you don't join a platform with inferior streaming in WeVerse and not to mention making a play for Gfriends brand while knowing Gfriend was on their way out.
3. Lee Sooman is evil and this current board is the real SM
Sooman has said nothing directly himself about the accusations against him and even if he can't say much due to potentially being in a suit with SM then he should just say what he can to dismiss but with even Hybe bringing the accusations up I suspect he hasn't spoken because it's all true.
There isn't a good side here due to the sheer fact this isn't individuals in a conflict but entire companies and if you're a fan of how SM is run on their own then you're probably screwed either way as Kakao might make SM more generic aiming at the Korean market and Hybe will do it aiming at the International market.
I doubt either will just let SM exist as it was in terms of the music side while interfering with everything around it so either winner will likely change SM in a polarising way but assuming the artists stick by SM then it's just a case of who do you trust them with more Kakao or Hybe?
Everything else doesn't really matter because it's SM talking about a plan that is all about good execution so we need to see if this SM has the execution to pull it off or if it'll crash and burn for them as the plan does sound ambitious but not egregious enough to not be doable and instead coming down to if SM can pull together and make the most out of what they have.
I assume the board has had this plan for a while and was just waiting till Sooman was out of the way to implement it but they got impatient with how long he was taking to sell his shares and just decided to go around him instead which caused him to just sell to someone who could outright buy his shares and I'd imagine he was selling to get money he could and then get out with his age.True there is no win here for the fans.
SM could have done all this in house. Same as JYP did. Instead they chose to go to kakao apparently without telling some big stock holders they were going to dilute the current value of the stock. This kicked off SM the war. The company trying to take the high ground is laughable. The CEO ect caused this.
For 2 and half decades sm; ran, made money, made groups, and what i always felt was impressive kept people around from the early groups.
They built a culture and yes they f up alot, and for sure could do better, but they had a vision and a goal.
For some crazy reason the current board thought bringing in outsiders and giving them power would make things better.
LSM is 70; yes they need a succession plan, but I for one have zero confidence that the one the kids put together is good.
Not sure the Hybe deal is better, but lsm was likey livid not the best way/time to make choices. Still not sure why he had to sell other than the fact that he has been trying to sell for a few years now.
There is no stopping HYBE; the way bts blew up just flat generated too much cash. The company had no way to absorb all that. They have to put it work by buying up companies since building stuff would not put it to work fast enough and they did not have the internal infrastructure.
now they could implode under all that but it will take time, and the new groups have been very popular.
You will notice big bang and black pink have not had any where near teh impact on making YG huge.
I feel bad for RV, but sorry I think it’s silly to be mad that NCT got re-scheduled first. NCT Dream’s original shows sold out in minutes, while 127 was selling out 50k domes, so of course they would be rescheduled quickly so the company could make more $$. In contrast, RV was playing what, a 5 or 6k show?big deal there was one scheduled last year for march.. 2 girls got covid and they never rescheduled yet nct got rescheduled like weeks later.
the girl group fans have zero trust in the cooperate part of sm.
Aespa fans are even more pissed.
its not so much mad at nct as at sm. A huge point of his message is that hybe would neglect artists... this is true see gfriend. but sm has not been better. they dont disband em just hide em away forever and promote em poorly.I feel bad for RV, but sorry I think it’s silly to be mad that NCT got re-scheduled first. That said, I’m surprised the RV shows haven’t been rescheduled since then. (I’m assuming the RV concerts sold out? If not, that may play a role in why they’re slow to reschedule them too.) Hopefully, aespa selling out their 10k show will open the door for more gg concerts, as well as the restriction being lifted on the # of concerts. That was very eye-opening in the SM video.
RV had three releases last year. I wouldn’t call that ignored. (Aespa, hell yeah, they got ignored.) That’s more than NCT 127, who had a whopping 1 release despite selling 2M albums on a screwed up release, and the same amount of as top seller, NCT Dream.its not so much mad at nct as at sm. There is always war between boy and girl group fans hell no one hates sm groups like their own group fans. Elf and Cassie led teh snsd black ocean.
Sm has always been hyper conservative with the female venues RV has played all but one of the Korean venues snsd did.
Even snsd got tiny 10k max at top in Korea. They did do Tokyo dome at the end of 14.
But the snsd fan meet/ concert in 17 was a 3-4k venue.
Heck IZ*ONE sold out 3 days at 10k 6 months into the run.
If they have such value pricing then pop for bigger venues.
The cfo claims they want to increase digital well the girls are the digital, heck RV has million more spotify listeners per month than any other sm act, and they have not sent them west since feb 2019. Nor do they have a label in the US.
Bottom line they use the girls as the face of the company and then screw em.

The problem with both is Hybe has one way that works.RV had three releases last year. I wouldn’t call that ignored. (Aespa, hell yeah, they got ignored.) That’s more than NCT 127, who had a whopping 1 release despite selling 2M albums on a screwed up release, and the same amount of as top seller, NCT Dream.
I think they’re mismanaged, like many SM groups, and the company certainly doesn’t maximize the opportunities (esp around American distro), but they’re not ignored..
I’m surprised to hear the SNSD venues were so small, but hopefully now that gg are selling like bg, this new SM will start booking more shows for their gg.
Tbf, they’re bringing in outsiders because he’s forced it by being obstinate on keeping his cut. I’m pretty sure this plan was already in the works and they were waiting on LSM. He’s been shopping around those shares and every deal keeps falling through, mostly tied to these secret companies and profit sharing with larger companies balking at his requirements as they near the finish line. I don’t know why LSM and his defenders are acting like it’s a shock when the shots were already fired across the bow when they cut tied with Like Planning.
It’s hard to create succession planning if the old king won’t leave. All of this info they’re laying out now they should have leaked in advance of their moves to bring in outsiders and float more stocks.
I don’t think SM could have done all this in-house. I love most SM groups, most SM music and atp in my life, would consider myself pretty pink blooded, BUT I also think the company continues to show gaps in understanding the opportunities and showing the capabilities to market to a global marketplace. They, in some ways, are still running it like it’s 2012. I’m not crazy about Kakao or Hybe but I’m also not assuming it’s a bad thing to partner with companies who better understand the modern Kpop game.
