Eugene is the og visual. You would need someone at least on Yoona Krystal or Irene level in Korea. Eugene is still crazy pretty.
Bada the main vocal. I expect SM to get this role right Lina Taeyeon Jessica Luna Wendy all are at Bada level or +
Shoo the exotic foreign member. Maybe Hina but is she Stephanie Jessica Tiffany Krystal Amber impact wise...

I'd say Ning would be an excellent main vocal (judging from her pre-debut stuff alone), but Jimin could also fill that role pretty well. Jimin ofc is a god-tier visual, and Hina was probably a better dancer than say Jaemin mmc era (no clue how much she's improved since then though)

But other than that, I agree with you 100%. There's so much competition now that pushing for a bigger group is probably the best way for them to get noticed
