Well, I don't really think that's true. SM is pretty strict about the personalities of certain idols, their image, and they definitely take account of the public. Though, I do think the first big idol to come out will be from SM, since SM is the major company and have really well established fan-bases.

But SM also takes a lot of risks. Bringing in non-Korean idols, Letting Amber be her tom-boy self, Super Junior running wild.

They are strict in some ways, but I would compare the SM way to a box, while other companies have a leash. The SM idols have a line they can't cross, but they are free to move around inside it.
