Fist off they tried so hard to not be produce but ... are sitll pretty close.
8 member group will be formed. 10 total episodes planed.
The concept of having Judges' ( they call em Unicorns Rain a dancer from the mnet show, Hyoyeon, Sejeong, Adora(a producer) and Younha) is an interesting mechanic to weed out popular but not skilled kids.
The show has done a pretty poor job highlighting all but a few select girls.
Part of that is the just the mechanics and what they have chosen to air.
Its very very hard to have a sense of progression and connection with the girls.
the first we see em they are in 1-v -1 battles the top half from what ever pre show fan engagement there was (ie if you had a name already) got to choose from the bottom half
ie the popular girls got to choose which of the unpopular girls they get to battle, after seeing the song they had chosen. oh in 3 days
Then the winners of the battles were formed mystically into teams to go against the looses of the 1v1 in 5 concepts that the winners picked and then they picked which of the 2 songs they would do. also in 3 days.
The group formation is mostly obscured through out the show.
Anyway the Unicorns pick the winners and then pick 4 girls from each winning team to auto advance to the next round.
the additional 21 are from fan votes.
so n0w we are down to 41( really 39 girls because 2 quit) All 39 are placed in Level M the final mechanic for this show is the girls advance by level.

once any girl get to Level P they are assured Debut.
these girls are then judged again buy the unicorns on another feature song that supposedly they have learned. and put in tiers of Low Average and High.
each of those ranks are then split Mystically into teams and given reworked songs ( some by Adora keeping it in house) and the teams from each tier battle it out
The unicorns again pick the winners and promote from the winning teams and drop from the show 9 girls from the loosing teams. like so.
L - 2 up 4 out
A _ 3 up 3 out
H - 4 up 2 out
now we have 30 girls who all train for the next mission ( we find this out after teh ranking in a later ep)
9 girls are already level S the minimum level to survive the next culling.
the next ranking is public vote.
Here is where the show have really created a nightmare for themselves. They are not weighing votes so many of teh top vote getters are not Korean ( thus why the unicorns we tasked with sending some home) and the most popular Korean is 12 years old. lol.( she is good but)
depending on how many vote the girls get they can go up multiple levels. So there are some sort of fixed numbers to advance. ie some girls were 2-5% short of teh number to go up to I.
4 girls go straight to I ( Gehlee , Elisia, Seowon, Nana) and one of those goes to R(Nana). remember one more promotion and she is locked in.
now we are to EP 8 and this is the specialty round the teams are Visual , Vocal, Performance the girls kinda got to pick which group.
One girl from each team will receive a Unicorn promotion.
visual did a reworked Calliena
Nana really should have been considered for this promotion but that would kill the drama as she would be in.. The Girl who got it (Kotoko) was better but the judges put a different Korean girl against her.
Vocal did a reworked Beautiful
performance did a reworked Loco
Episode 9 is tonight and i fully expect 3 or more girls will be level P at the end. I would not be surprised to see 6.
