In everyday life, using a person's name when talking to them is key to building friendships and security among people. For me at least, I think it can also play in important role in friendships taking place over the internet as well. I feel that when someone uses a nickname or my name when talking to me online, it makes me feel happy. I don't know why, maybe its just a little thing that I pick up on and find comfort in. A sense of acknowledgement, you could say.

So I guess, if you've ever said typed my name or literally any nickname of mine when talking to me, chances are I noticed and liked you more, lol.

Btw, please someone tell me I'm not the only one who notices and appreciates this? Lol

For me its not so much a metric for closeness in online relationships [since everyone I communicate irl would already know my name] as it is something that I forget about telling people. Part of it is also because I'm not too keen on my name... but thats something else entirely. Perhaps I will let a small portion of kps whom I feel very close to know my confirmation name... lol

totally agree! everyone knows my real name here.. well idk about that but everyone has access to it at least.. it definitely felt nice to be called and acknowledged not as some random alias but as me with my thoughts and my experiences


though I don't think I want to give out my name as much anymore.. since there's that other kpopforum..where you can't get your account deleted..and my name is also known there...the people who know it are definitely free to use it

Read also is a nickname I''ve come to really attach to as well though.. Read is a legitimate nickname for me at this point and it resonates the same as with my name.. there is history and memories attached to Read and obviously my name, it functions in the same way

I kind of get what you mean, in terms of a repore or building a basis for friends hip. I tend to not let people into my life and am also somewhat private and reserved.

If someone calls me by my real name unless it's work related or medical related) , it's more likely I won't talk to them as much, or it's more likely for me to hit you.
My nickname is only really reserved for people I allow to use it, after we become friends not as a foundation, use without permission is a no no tbh.
