You know how sometimes a company has a popular group and a significantly less popular group? And fans get mad when the less popular group has less comebacks that the popular one? Well from my perspective that shouldn’t come as a shock. From a business standpoint, why focus on the less popular group, which will give much less net profit, rather than the popular one? If they’re able to focus on both, great, but that’s harder to do. Despite what some kpop stans like to act like, it’s a moneymaking business in every way shape and form.

Yeah I agree with it
Most companies tend to stick with the one that will bring more profit over the one that wont thus either leaving them to slowly make their way out of the industry
Yet many try to promote them & yell at the company yet dony realize if one ends then the company will then get complains about the popular not having any promotions

the whole 4 albums per year or the group is mistreated idea is crazy to me, literally no western artist releases that many albums
coming up with concepts and quality music takes time, adding choreo and production costs and whatnot makes it even more unrealistic,
not to mention the effect of producing the albums has on the environment

kpop fans need to chill, mass consumerism aint pretty even if it comes with a glittery package and cardboard cutouts of ur favs

Yes its fine when the company just wants to promote the popular group but its also fine for people to get angry when the less popular group doesn’t get anything

i mean if it's just months to one year with no new music then that's fine because quality is better than quantity but if one group has 5-10 comebacks while their lesser known labelmate had 0 in the same time period then i understand the anger because the group can't get more popular if they don't do anything and if a company can't bother to keep more than one group active then maybe they shouldn't debut them

It's a balance. If you don't invest in the less popular group, then they aren't going to get more popular either. And companies have absolutely ruined themselves by putting all their eggs in one basket. You can see Cube these days trying to course correct with Lightsum, since imagine how screwed they'll be if (G)I-DLE and BtoB peace out.

But I also understand if the opportunities drop off when they just aren't selling. Like tbh, I remember Amber stans back in the day being mad that SM didn't push her more, but she got a mini album made with her involvement in every aspect on every track, was given a pre-release MV, Taeyeon was the feature on the title, and she still couldn't chart well. I don't blame SM for not giving her endless resources when she clearly wasn't going to be a solid soloist in the Korean market. Sometimes fans will run their mouths, but then not actually support the idols.

Comparing them to the west is apples and oranges.

western artists will have many single s on an album, so they can go years of of that album with tours ect and new ' single play.

Kpop an album is a single almost exclusively. so you need 2-4 releases a year to keep the same volume.
And the market is so fast that for most acts taking year or more = death.
