I guess Hey Everybody! by 5 Seconds of Summer bc it came out at a time when I was very financially unstable and living under not-so-pretty circumstances (a shitty apartment with rent comparable to a mortgage payment). If you know the story already, you know. I won’t bore anyone with the long backstory and details, but the short story is that without that song and music video, I wouldn’t have known (or wouldn’t have realized until much later) that it was okay for adults to look cute and be childish too, and that I don’t need to try and act more “mature” if I don’t want to. I even cried the first time I saw the music video and heard the song because it hit me that hard.
