Tbh the new trilogy was their chance to hook in the kids and the new generation and convert them into lifelong fans. Instead they only pissed off their existing fans- the older generation lol. I'm sure they'd have loved to make the new characters household names like Luke, Han Solo, Darth Vader or the MCU stars.

TBH I think the next set of movies will focus on a young Yoda, not baby Yoda but actual Yoda. I think that'll be the best way to satisfy fans new and old... plus Yoda's species lives for thousands of years so you could set them in a bunch of different eras.
