first time I went to China, I was one year old

When my parents would go shopping, adults would see me in the stroller and come offer me candy for being so cute

or also since I could “run before I could walk” and could run at one years old, running to adults and smiling at them they gave candy

but my parents didn’t let me eat bc I was too young

I went to china two or three times total but not since I was older than 6

i looked like the avg ambiguously Asian baby (I’m not Chinese so ofc I wasn’t avg Chinese baby lol) tbh not particularly cute but they gave me candy

do adults in China generally give babies candy for smiling and being cute without any occasion?

second time I went the hotel we stayed at gave us clay pigs so China was hospitable in general but these were random ppl not hotel staff

I got reminded of this cuz I realized my dad kept buying me Asian Barbie’s when he went to China and India when I don’t like Barbies then I remembered when I went to China this is what happened apparently (1st time)

my dad used to go to China on business and a few times I came along

My dads Chinese American friend and colleague gave me and my brother Chinese sweets the other time, but when I went the first time it wasn’t parents friends family friends or anything

It’s not necessarily weird, it’s a nice thing, just I haven’t seen anywhere else and didn’t know if it was a China thing

My parents were more like “why” bc they were hard candies so I wasn’t like “old enough” to eat them but yeah it was sweet

I don’t think they thought I was older, it was more the gesture, I don’t think it was given in a “eat immediately” way, just cute kid -> candy

i started running the first time I came to asia, when I went to India, and got my first pair of shoes tho, idk if this was same trip, going to asia twice with a one year old seems a bit much

In China? No one took pics of me as far as I know but those people already put their kid in public eye if they’re vlogging

but as far as I know and remember (I was very little last time I went tho) Chinese (from China) people are very nice
