Like hear me out… when it was rumoured that aespa and nmixx were getting new members (thank goodness that never happened cause people are mean) people were like NOPE NOPE NOPETY NOPE. Some people still refuse to acknowledge and accept Yeri’s existance in Red Velvet and she was only added on their second release. But with nugu groups its the total opposite, even if the member was added without warning. The comment sections are like “I love you, you’re amazing, etc”. Xeed got a new member very recently and everyone lost their shit, in a positive way. At least he’s been in a group before and had some solo stuff. Or lets think about when Minseo was added to Saturday. Nobody knew who she was, no teasers, no announcements, just a selfie dropped one day like “hi I’m the new member”. And people ATE. IT. UP. Where is that energy when it comes to more popular groups?​

I agree with @chiefchilly1 - it's because the popular groups are already well-known as they are, so the change can be quite shocking and even unwanted. Whereas nugu groups like Pixy have smaller fanbases, so not a lot of people would know them without the new member anyway.

I think it's because the group is nugu and thus not doing as well financially (and otherwise) so adding a new member is like changing things up since it's unfortunate but the vast majority of nugu groups don't escape nugudom and the addition of a new member seeks to change that
