I wasn’t even going to mention this because
1. I didn’t think I’d be up to being online, but if I’m not distracting myself with something I just cry.
2. Even when I’m not feeling great I still always try to only show the positive side of myself, it’s just how I cope, if I don’t I again just become a crying mess.
But at around 2:30 today we brought my kitty Kiara to the vet so they could help her pass on peacefully. Her last appointment before this it was evident that her quality of life was declining. I mentioned her maybe a week ago and that she wasn’t doing well, she did get fluids and a stimulant but it didn’t do much tbh. She was unable to pass any waste, not drinking, and just not 100% herself. I was thankfully able to take off time from work and spend 5 whole extra days with her. While she wasn’t 100% during that time I could tell she was happier and not as uncomfortable. She got all the treats, food and love a kitty could ask for. Her last night with me she must have known something was going to happen because she never left my side all night, I cuddled her, recorded her purring and we watched an animation that she seemed absolutely fascinated by.
Today I held her as our vet helped her pass on and she’s finally at peace, no medications, no pain, no discomfort, no more tests.
I wish cherishing her was enough, but no amount of cherishing was enough for me personally. I’m so happy she’s at peace, but handing her over to the vet and leaving her body there, coming home with an empty cat carrier, to my room with her bed, scratch posts and the absence of her kills me. I want her back, 13 years was no where near enough.
