This would be an easier debate. Doughnuts are light and typically sweet.
bagels are the opposite being heavier and almost always a savory item.

Muffins and cupcakes are both sweet with different sweet components (ie the icing on cupcakes/fruits and spices for muffins). Muffins can (not always) be denser sometimes as well.
