First there’s the whole not being able to sell alcohol, but allowing it to be consumed. That led to some grape companies making bricks of grape and then warning users so absolutely not put it in water and absolutely not let it sit in a cupboard for 20 days because then it would turn into wine, and no one wants that right? *hint hint wink wink* so be careful not to leave it in water everyone!

Then there’s the less fun fact that the government mandated the addition of toxic chemicals into industrial alcohol. It’s hard to know how many people died after drinking it and being poisoned, but it’s thought that up to 10,000 people died because of it. But anything to stop someone from being drunk right?

Hate to say it, the US is headed back toward that kind of government mandated morality. It's just not alcohol this time.

it was a bad idea.

what they should have done is just be ruthless with public intoxication, abuse and extending that to dui now.

Remove willful substance as a mitigating factor and make it a aggravating one.
