User Of The Month History (and their post counts) !!! (1 Viewer)

UOTM is one of if not the longest running event on the forum and a staple for almost all users chatting here. Since it's inception, 48 users have been crowned UOTM in 49 different events (@VillageIdiot won 2 times). Very quickly (literally the first one lol), a lot of users have their eyes on this prestigious trophy, and claiming a banner not even staff can get.

UOTM has quite an interesting way to crown someone, with the votes being counted for the next month winner (vote in january for the february winner). Therefor, to know which posts made them UOTM, you need to look at the previous month. So of course, I collected every previous month post count for every UOTM to know who was the most efficient to get UOTM.

Note : some votings went further than the previous month and its probably impossible to really know how much posts they got before getting voted.

First thing we see is that overall the amount of posts needed to win the UOTM has been steadily rising since the event was created. For example between February and April 2023, we reached higher than 2k posts. It has never been harder to win UOTM, and you kind of need to get a lot of posts to even have a chance nowadays.

Now we can see who was the most efficient users to get UOTM :

Tiffany and Areum absolutely dwarfs the rest of the competition with less than 100 posts to get the award. An absolute amazing efficiency that is probably impossible to replicate if some legendary users do not comeback like @yeji...


Now for the least efficient (no shame whatsoever) or maybe you can call them the most deserving or something :

It's clear that those users worked hard to get the award and it's a proof that dedication will eventually reward you. So too all the users that were never able to win it, I will just say keep trying you will eventually win it!!!

I think its misleading that you present it that a high post count is required to have a chance on getting UOTM, as even some of the recent examples show that this is not the case

Ngl I don’t feel this post really shows what makes a user UOTM. Activity can give a user a bonus, but activity is not what determines which user wins. We look at the users nominated and take into count activity, but that’s one of the less important things. We care more about how a user interacts with others and what kind of an impact they have on others. 1000000 posts of photos of colored pencils will certainly make your activity much much higher than the rest, but that wont give you UOTM. I just feel like this post paints activity as the primary thing we judge by when that’s really not it at all.

I still had the feeling the winners were posting more in recent months and it really looks like it, tho the forum activity has also gone up but I don't have full stats... In the future I will try to see if it's just people posting more or if we have a real trend of UOTM posting more.

I think a user that posts more (and actually in many different areas) is more visible to others, so their actions are noticed by more users and incrase the chance to get nominated

Also, usually it really just depends on who’s nominated, which is why we always post a reminder to nominate a user when it’s halfway through the month and then we generally pick between those who are nominated. There’s a lot of other users who imo deserve the title and have yet to be given it, specifically staff members (not just saying that cause I’m staff)
