I think it depends on the age. imo the younger the kid, the more likely they'll grow up to distrust their parents, and that's not okay.

It’s intended to get a negative reaction out of the kid. Those kinds of things to me are usually only funny if you’re saying something so absurd that the recipient knows it’s not true. Otherwise it boils down to “haha this person is sad, how funny”

you just said what I was having trouble conveying - thank you! lol and I agree. Same thing goes for if someone said to me "Luke Hemmings died last night". (which he didn't, ofc) They want to get a negative reaction out of you. The prank I mentioned is basically bullying.

to me, pranks aren't funny when the objective is to upset someone! it stops being funny when the other person feels genuinely bad, especially if its a child and ESPECIALLY if you're a grown adult doing it

As everyone else said, it's lame. Just making ur own kids cry. In some videos it seemed like the parent wanted to even get revenge on the kids , not cool at all.
