I remember we needed to read a book in summer break that the class voted for, and one year we had to read 'lolita' (yes, that lolita) by vladimir nabokov

When ever it was Great Expectations hit me at a time that i just was not thrilled. I still remember that as a hard slog to finish.

Three Men in a Boat. God that book was a pain to get through, I couldn't read more than a chapter without falling asleep.

Beowulf. The whole class hated it, and the teacher knew it but she still made us read it!

We read some weird ones, but i ended up getting some enjoyment out of them. I guess the one I didn't like that much was finnish book based on play. Oh found the name. Anna Liisa by Minna Canth, written in 1895. Author is prominent feminist icon in Finland and good for her, but the book wasn't that interesting the story was mostly miserable.
