Another question did ur parents or grandparents have red hair as babies ? That they remember?
My brother was a curly blonde until 3 years old and so was his son, then darkened into dark brown. There could be a gene for it, but not a dominant

They’ve never mentioned it being that way. But I thought blonde to brown was pretty common, while I’ve never heard of red to brown. But I might just not know about it and it might be a thing sometimes

My sister in law had red hair when she was small. Now she dyes her hair read and tbh it fits her a lot

its actually not uncommon, if non-red hair parents are both carrying the recessive gene for red hair, ur baby gonna have a chance at having red hair.
they can have like no red head relatives either, but its that recessive gene hiding within, u just never know

Yeah, the whole recessive thing is understandable but that’s a lot of family members to not have red hair Im just that special ig

which is why I asked vikki if her grandparents had it but she indicated that none of her relatives do so it would be extremely rare recessive gene
maybe the previous generation aka vikki's great grandparents???

from what i know though the gene for red hair is extremely recessive and can take generations before it pops up randomly - like i suppose it has in vikki. it may be her great-grandparents who had it though, or possibly even some even more distant relatives

to answer the op... probably the fact that my parents never considered any boys' names when they were expecting me. sure i didn't turn out to be a boy, but how did they not even consider the possibility? it's not as though they could have found out before i was born - that's illegal here. truly makes me wonder sometimes...

My great grandparents probably didn’t because my parents knew most if not all of them to some level and have always said they’ve never known a relative of mine to have red hair. Great great grandparents idk though. And that is odd to not consider any boys names in that case
