The provider we were with, i can't really blame them, it was stable but network wise there was issues, after attempting to fix the issue which should have worked on other providers, i crippled the box to the point where i cannot upload stuff to the server. This prompted me to do a emergency repair as i cannot keep the forum crippled without updates, but in doing so the nightmare began, reinstallation of os which should have been minutes turned to hours due to the network issue, to make matters worse, after the installation completed after 3 hours, server password which was provided did not work.
This prompted me to do another reinstall and the same thing happen, this carried on throughout the day while i tried mounting rescuecd to try recover the passwords but to no avail. To make matters worse the provider only did support during business hours and were probably undermanned. After a sleepless night, i felt like i was just repeating stuff with no solution, luckily file uploads were working, so i managed to backup everything at the state we left. Discussed with the admins on how to proceed & decided to migrate to a new provider which is where we are at now.
This is our first time since our founding that we had a large period of downtime, i took matters too lightly in modifying stuff in a production environment, for that i am in the wrong. I would like to apologize to everyone for this. I truly did not mean to cause this downtime but i am but just a human.
Cosmic.
