There really are so many things though. Canada having signs in multiple languages (I know why, but it’s still interesting to see). Fancy looking buildings in Canada being for boring af usage wise. Actually some acknowledgement about them fucking up in the past (I feel like that’s less common in the US, but might be different in different areas). That’s off the top of my head on my last trip. There’s more from that one and from my other vacations but I don’t want to be here all day

It's actually a ploy to morally destroy invaders. By the time they've taken down all the flags they'll be so exhausted that an army of local children will defeat them with rubber band guns. You should see this place on memorial and the 4th of july. It's like the US vomited flags on our selves. I love it! Also here in Idaho people decorate their houses with lights and decorations just like they do for Christmas! I kind of feel sad for other countries that aren't this patriotic!

When I was in Cape Town unless your home was in an security estate (gated community) all the middle and upper income homes had walls surrounding them with either barbed wire. electrical fences, or spikes along the tops of the walls due to the high crime in South Africa. If you can't afford a wall, then you put bars surrounding entrances and windows and it's not uncommon for this to include a gated door inside your home to the second story to create a de facto panic room when you're getting robbed.
