Like race and/or ethnicity; nationality; regional (for where you’re living NOW) culture; socioeconomic status of parents; other parent status (single parent, orphan, sick parent you had to care for etc idk what this should be called not parent status); sexuality (if ur not straight ig); occupationish; hobbyish; disabled if it applies to you (not in a looking down on urself or ableist way in an activist sense pride); idk what else is there? Can’t think of the top of my head? Fandom ig. I think or tbh hope that wouldn’t be anyones top number 1

definitely race and ethnicity for me especially now that I’ve been getting so much into aapi month this year

idk I care for my fellow Asians a lot

sexuality i don’t rlly care I’m ace and into girls but it’s not my personality nor a big deal to me that I am it’s a small aspect of someone (and no it’s not like it’s very accepted by others for me, opposite rlly I won’t ever be able to date publically), it’s just not a big “identity” thing

and I don’t rlly think much past those tho I suppose to some extent socioeconomic and parent status or wtv matters

i think most people that aren’t “100%” white but are not heterosexual their race and ethnicity is more important than sexuality as an identity

Yeah that’s how people see you first and foremost and sexuality should be simple, you like who you like whereas there’s food, clothing, customs, beliefs etc for ethnicities and races

Does your city have like a strong culture separate from broad “American culture”?
I suppose age/ generation is also an identity tho it changes over time (but for everyone else too)

I guess I’m more ambiguous bc asia is so diverse but at the same time in close countries “similar” it’s hard to tell but I guess it would be harder to tell ethnicities from like Western European countries I definitely couldn’t

like people think I’m Japanese or like my dad is Chinese but I think for the most part no one wouldn’t think “Asian” except my dad got thought of as Mexican long ago bc of skin tone

Yeah true. When people see my father they always get shocked,
because he is really pale, and my mum is dark thai.

Sad thing is in the US non East Asians, specifically south and southeast have trouble being seen as Asian and are “brown Asians” vs “yellow Asians” but south and southeast Asian countries are some of the most diverse Asian countries

but now that I’ve learned all the racist laws america had against Asians as a WHOLE including southeast and south Asian on the basis of being Asian, and calling all Asians chinos (Chinese in Spanish and Portuguese) , including south and southeast, and then calling all Asians Indians, including east and southeast, it makes me more like why aren’t we/they recognized? America hated all Asians and we shouldn’t have to prove somewhere that’s in our blood our ancestry literally came from, just as Asian as anyone else, and there’s a lot of cultural similarities among Asians as a whole and cultural differences between even East Asian countries.

Tho ppl will be racist against you in different ways depending on how you look I suppose

Yeah I don’t rlly expect people to know by looks the specific Asian country someone comes from, there’s so many and I couldn’t do it myself but also bc of this grouping of “yellow Asians” of east and “brown Asians” of south and southeast mainly but generally other Asians including Arab, bc China and India are the biggest populations of the world, ignorant non Asians would call any “yellow Asian” Chinese and any “brown Asian” Indian and so in that case I think it would be better to just say Asian (regardless of whether people see them as “yellow Asian” or “brown Asian” tho they look different but we Asians as a whole are a very diverse group) and maybe respectfully ask ethnicity rather than making this broad assumptions, like if we went and called all white people russian bc Russia is so big ppl wouldn’t be happy

Socioeconomic status definitely does affect life growing up becoming a billionaire without working a single day by inheriting money would make most peoples lives very different
