what was the worst book you've ever read? (1 Viewer)

it was The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans, but I just recently picked up Drive Me Crazy by Lizzy Dent. If she didn't swear so bad she'd give a sailor a run for his money, I might actually enjoy it since it's a romance novel, but noooooooo that mouth (er, those fingers) of hers are dirtier than an attic!

Fifty Shades of Grey

I stopped reading the book after the first half and after I literally dozed away. It's just boring and not even good in a trashy or voyeuristic way. I doubt that the second half of the story will get better.

I'm pretty good at picking things I like so I can't recall reading anything that was plain bad but I read a lot of low-grade fiction in my early teens that I don't remember the titles of so it's probably one of those. In recent memory I put Moby Dick on hold, it wasn't bad as much as slow and a bit boring but I only got up to the part where they meet the captain before setting sail so maybe it'll get better after that.. I plan to pick it back up after finishing what I'm currently reading.

so there was this weird time in 2023 where i lost a bet with my (now former) best friend and had to read a trashy polish wattpad book named rodzina monet (for your own good, don't google this) and it was painfully bad. not even in a so bad it's good kind of way.

basically the plot was that a 14 y/o girl named not hailey, not hailee but hailie for some reason - like eminem's daughter but idk if em and this book have the same target audience lmao, and that girl lost both her mother and grandma in a car accident and had to quickly move places from the uk to the us (polish wattpad "writers" don't know any other countries) to live in a huge mansion with 5 brothers she didn't know she had. and the entire plot is basically these brothers beating up everybody who comes close to her, being shit to their girlfriends and bragging about how rich they are. a book with such theme should explore the main character's grief or something but it never does and half of it is just her walking around that damn house and being like woahhh there are so many rooms and cars and everything. also their parents are kinda nonexistent and the author is obsessed with the main girl calling her eldest brother her "legal guardian". it would be funny if it weren't for the fact that this book got insanely popular and even 10 year olds are reading this garbage. but that's poland for you...

This was a published book? It sounds like an equally trashy rewrite of diabolik lovers I tried to watch the anime cuz the boys were hot but the main character made me wanna end her, she was such a piece of cardboard a girl with 5 guys means you got 6 characters to enrich with personality and people fail at that

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.

It was recommended to me. First book was fine. I did really love the universe and each powers being tied to a different house. But I couldn't stand the main character, she made me cringe a couple times always talking about herself ''Lightning girl'' 💀 Second book was hard to finish, it quite pissed me off towards the end. The writing wasn't the greatest. Anyway later on, I found out the author ''stole'' the story or concept from the book Red Rising by Pierce Brown but I can't confirm since I didn't read it.
