Appreciation What's a song that gets unfairly hated? (1 Viewer)

Just something I was thinking about! Sometimes it's easy to think of the opposite (what's a song that's overly praised) and I feel like I talk about that negative side more.

So on the unfairly hated, I'm going to start with NMIXX's Dice. I think there are many fair criticisms ones can levy at the song, but it always strikes me as unfair when someone is most upset about how many scenes Kyujin got in the MV, as if she personally edited it herself. It just feels like a way to dig at a member under the protection of saying it's "about the song" and thus I think is pretty unfair.

I think they're good for the vibe they were aiming for! A dance class I take sometimes has Jopping in the rotation and it's always fun.

It’s possible for that to happen but some people clearly just care about who released it. The same on all sides sadly.

Exactly. I get that not everything will land but they have so many songs it's like, really, not a single one is listenable?

I also think there's an element of... Not everything is intended to be this high class art. Like Butter is fun, but I'm not comparing it to Beethoven here. Someone told me recently that they didn't like a book I liked because it wasn't literary enough, and I'm like "So? I told you its main appeal was Kaiju and explosions and snark."

That one baffles me. I get why Signal is divisive, but More & More is catchy and the MV is pretty. And the sound is in line with Twice. I don't get why people criticize it so much.

What to happen?

For them to dislike how it sounds and say it makes their ears bleed though that’s obviously an exaggeration. But not vibing with the vocalists in one group who release generic songs while liking another groups genetic songs. I feel like it’s unlikely to actually occur to that extent though.

I don’t care for either DFTF or most BTS English songs, but given the fandoms opinion of each other yeah it probably has to do more with who released it not the song itself.

like they thought Nct Dream hello future was a typical bright concept song but when I thought similarly abt dftf suddenly it’s a travesty?

i said it’s the same kinda bright concept song any boygroup could release these days and the lyrics aren’t amazing either (bc they were praising the lyrics but even monster has better lyrics)
