Since we're getting into that season: Elf on the Shelf.

When I was a kid, we didn't need to give money to a corporation to have an elf monitor us for Santa. I guess kudos to the person who saw an opportunity to make themselves rich, but I genuinely do not get why so many people decided, "Ah, yes, I must spend $32 (+ accessories) and assign myself a daily chore for the month of December."

It's really fascinating (in a sad way) how many people leave school without being able to understand something they read or to think about things. Like in one ear and immediately trashed in the brain.

I've really realized that since joining a book club. There are some people who read hundreds of books, and yet, if there's a plot more complicated than a very basic "hero goes from point A to point B" then it's "too complicated" and they don't like it.

right, like at least make an effort? what's the point of reading without even trying to understand it you're just wasting your time
better to be honest and not read it atp

I did that all the time when I was a teen but then I came to study in Italy and oops, every exam is oral with the whole class watcing you lol. I wish everyone would experience that.

To add onto this, students who use chatgpt, especially for assingments, Like what a way to show you lack critical thought.

I have friends in computer science who use it which is ironic.

Sad but true. I feel like I notice this a lot more ever since I got a large dog myself, how many of my neighbors have dogs as big as mine or bigger, but they just shove them outside for hours on end, no walks, no water, no shelter for them to lay under. Like just because you CAN have a pet doesn't mean you SHOULD.

thats not what I meant tbh. I`m vegan, because I love animals.
humans exploit animals by eating them and the products that are made using them.
they pay for animal cruelty (like cows, pigs, chicken etc). they have to suffer for years.
and still, ppl go like 'I love animals'. no, you dont.
they love their dogs, cats and all the other pets they have, but they dont love animals.
