this woman I was friends (?) with once, told me, after I got attacked by this guy and humiliated in front of a bunch of people whose opinion I cared about, that it was my fault because I'm "so unapproachable" and people don't know how to "deal with me". Blaming the victim, are we.. but silly me was so shaken that I believed her at the time ..
and also several people have told me I have no sense of humor, but it's always the same type of people, and they could not be more wrong
strange, really strange, how some people are just unable to see you as you truly are...

My mom belittling me for trying to speak up about bullying from both teachers and Students. I was on the edge and having some really dark thoughts. Not about hurting myself I'll say that much, but to this day I don't like to go further because I don't like to think I gone that far down. She went on to tell me she had it worse in school and how she would get her glasses broke everyday blah-blah-blah.

I'm over it now years ago I met her best friend in HS and actually got to confront my mother and her lying. The look on my moms face when I found out she was actually the popular girl.

But seriously my mother belittling my emotions, and her crazy nut job religious ways really screwed me up in Middle and HS.

Alot of things, some regarding my mother, my poorness, my ethnicity, face, body,... you name it. Most said by people I have no connection to emotional so they didn't matter much and I don't really remember..

The few I do remember would be one from when I was a kid, I was called a half breed mutt... Didn't really understand I was that different looking until that point It didn't really change how I viewed myself though.
The other would be what my mother said, 'you were a result of a pity fuck, but I love you anyway...' thanks for that mum.

I have my own share of tales that I'll not share (sorry). I'm just going to say that over a decade ago I learned that whatever you or anyone see on other people are their own defects reflected back like on a mirror. One tale about how differently people may judge someone else came to me once when me and my then two very young sisters went to a concert of a then popular artist. When we returned home; I commented that said artist stroke to me as being shy. They were surprised by that judgement since they saw him as being arrogant, and that was as an interpretation of some aspects about how he behaved on stage. I know I'm terribly shy, so my judgement comes as no surprise; but their judgment, which back then I didn't think further about, now I just wonder...

Well, there are many times when I begin writing something judgemental on this forum and end up deleting and not posting it. That's because I believe my judgement about anyone is a reflection of myself; so it's actually a private thing.

So I believe, anything that people tell you about you is a reflection of themselves; not necessarily how you really are.

No, it's just that every time I tried to socialized with you all, I got shut down. So now I no longer want to, or feel comfortable with socializing.

It's a bit funny that it comes from those closest to me, who think I don't like people, having friends or socializing/interacting with people. There is a lot I can say on this, not to blatantly disagree, but to say it's conflicting for me. I'm quite sensitive about it, so I tend to self reflect whenever it gets brought up. If they bothered to sit with me and understand why I am like this, they'd know it all in a heartbeat. I actually love talking to people, I love talking about deeper selves, both mine and others. But I've come to learn my lesson, people ask but don't really care or truly want to know the answer. So I just keep it to myself.

And the only form of conversation anyone wants to have these days is small talk or joking around. Which is okay sometimes, but I don't really like it because I crave something deeper and more genuine.

I could possibly post more if I think of more but the main thing that I remember being offended by was when someone told me I couldn't handle negativity because I was too sensitive. It wasn't that they were entirely incorrect but they misunderstood me quite a bit. The only thing that upsets me is when someone that I care about says something shitty to or about me, but anyone else outside of the handful of people I hold to that degree couldn't hope to come close to cracking my smile. There was only one time where someone ever managed to, and the friend used that one occurrence to prove their point despite the specific circumstances of that situation...
