But what about a "I love my parents, Jesus and Jenna Marbles" type situation? There's no argument that the comma would clear that up but excluding it would allow the meaning to be read differently by others

I dont understand whats not to understand or misunderstand about that sentence?
to me "I love my parents, Jesus and Jenna Marbles" means u love all 3. what difference would make a comma?
the meaning would not be different to me.

“I love my parents, who are named Jesus and Jenna Marbles” is a completely correct interpretation of the sentence as well for US English speakers at least.

I always use it bc, like Vix pointed out, it adds clarity to the sentence.

The college level english 2 class felt like a HS english class to me. And thats not because I'm a genius. It was just very basic. I think a lot of Jr. College classes in CA are trying to bring HS graduates up to where they should already be because the public education system in California is trash.

Basically it’s the last comma in a list of things, as it can be used or omitted generally based on style.

With Oxford comma:
I like my dog, my cat, and my tarantula.

Without:
I like my dog, my cat and my tarantula.

I don’t get people excluding it. It makes the sentence less clear imo and it flows worse when you omit it. But that’s just me

I use it but I don’t care what others do if it’s clear it’s a list of items and the sentence ends there
